Infrastructure & Logistics
As expected, the USA is successful in all the main e-commerce indices: the Logistical Performance Index, the Ease of Doing Business Index, and the E-Government Development Index. Surprisingly, it is not in the top five for any of them.
The USA is improving in general population internet penetration. Furthermore, GDP continues to increase with a steady growth rate, so the economy is certainly boosting the e-commerce sector, both domestically as well as internationally.
E-commerce Landscape
Last year, the distribution of online shoppers by gender was fairly even, and the highest e-shopper penetration by age group was led by ‘Generation X’ customers.
With regard to the top online retailers, Amazon, Walmart, and Apple are the most popular. During the holiday season, desktop is the most used device for online shopping, followed by smartphone. Last year, most consumers shopped online for gifts.
